Angel Eyes

Sinking in the eyes of an angel

I fight to rise above; I’m swimming in an angel’s love

A midnight conversation lover

I bother not with the surface

For in her sea I find my purpose

I don't care, at all

And I know we will find our way

Guide us through, your angel eyes will do

I wish that we could fall in love,

But you’ve got your wings to lift you from the fear the fall

I’m lost in time with this angel

The people watch this band, But I’ll take my chance in a one-night stand

I stare at her with conviction

Convinced she is the one, I will not take my love and run

And I know we will find our way

Guide us through, your angel eyes will do

I wish that we could fall in love,

But You’ve got your wings to lift you from the fear the fall

Come down to me and disregard your wings

For when the angel falls in love my heart sings

When speaking of angels

The devil....

was the most powerful angel of all!

I wish that we could fall in love,

But You’ve got your wings to lift you from the fear the fall

Come down to me and disregard your wings

For when the angel falls in love my heart sings

And I know

we..

will find our way

Guide us through, your angel eyes will do

Through these eyes...

This entire blog is entitled, "Through these eyes..."  The title speaks for itself, which means that through this blog I am obliged to share with you the world, through these eyes.

shabashabu.

Yesterday my roommate Rika and I went to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh, which is now also one of hers and her boyfriend Andy's. As it turns out, they are now regular customers. The place is called ShabaShabu and serves Japanese and Thai. The food is always delicious and the presentation always decorative. I absolutely love Rika. She is so smart and definitely fun to be around, and the conversation over lunch yesterday was unbeatable.
Our service sucked though. Rika asked for sweet tea and got unsweet instead. Then we ordered hard-boiled quail eggs because Rika had made me fall in love with them the last time we went. Apparently, they are a delicacy in the Philippines. The waitress brought us the quail eggs on a tiny plate, eggshell on and the top sliced off. Rika and I look inside the eggs with disgust... this wasn't what we ordered.
We refused to eat raw eggs and turned to our plates and smiled at the colorful array of food before us. We were especially entertained with the snow globe of white rice they provided us with. I immediately attacked my rice with soy sauce, and Rika laughed at me and mentioned that that was how they ate their rice in the Philippines.

Life is beautiful.

I love life.
Just when you think nothing more can go right, it does.  I feel that I have fulfilled many of my general goals I set at my last post--over a year ago, mind you-- on November 26, 2006.  The three that I have indubitably followed through with are:

(a) Saying "hi" to at least one stranger every day
(b) Finding the positive side to everything
(c) Inspire others

The most significant two, of course, being B and C.  I have found through an example this week that a lot of the time, C is a result of B.  Monday night I went to my friends' house to play poker.  I ran into my friend Emily who I had not spoken to in quite a while.  Emily is one of the strongest women I know.  She has cancer and she simply will not allow it to stop her.
Her mindset is close to perfection, with many goals in mind.  She hopes to continue on in the medical field.  Anyway, on Monday during our catch-up session, one of the first major things she told me was that her mother (who recently attempted suicide) was putting her up for adoption.  Disbelief overcame me, while the first thing that came to my mind was "Oh. My. God."
Yet after further talking with her, another thought came to mind--that isn't a bad thing at all!  I told Emily that she doesn't need that kind of negativity in her life anyway, that she would honestly be better off.  The last thing she needs is someone who is emotionally unstable in his or her life, she needs someone to be her rock.  Her mother hasn't contributed much, if anything, anyway.  Emily is a grown woman and knows how to take care of herself, and dare I say, is doing a damn good job at it.  To Emily: Stay strong, keep your head up, and always be inspired.

Postscript: By the way, the title to this posting also acts as a reference to one of my favorite movies of all time.
